AWOL

A brown blanket of smog spreads out over endless urban sprawl to smother the horizon. The air quality is the first thing I notice when flying to the mainland, and one of the things I most take for granted in Hawaii where gentle trade winds sweep our skies clean.

I'm in LA for a few days, hence the stillness here at māʻona. Sadly, there will be no time between meetings for me to get out and explore all the wonderful food in town. When I return home, it'll be back to normal again.

A hui hou.

L.A. has some pretty amazing food. It's too bad you don't have extra time to spend to go venture out. And yes, the smog there is terrible. I try to explain this to my family every time they ask me why I don't move there. Oh well, ignorance is bliss.

In the end I was able to grab amazing sushi a couple times in Little Tokyo, and a good steakhouse dinner. We stayed in downtown LA the whole time, and area with which I'm completely unfamiliar. But now, I'm back home in Hawaii.
