My parents grow apple bananas and papayas in the back yard and to be honest, I like the tiny bananas much more than the ones from South America.
In Singapore, the Malays have goreng pisang, which is a like a deep fried, batter-dipped banana (like banana tempura). I enjoy goreng pisang so I think I'm going to have to try my hand at making some next time my parents bring me some bananas.

Kat, I'm not sure exactly what kind these were. They were on the large side for apple bananas but not quite as big as a normal Williams banana. Maybe they were apples, just big 'uns.
Reid, I think I've had something similar to goreng pisang, but with plantains. Cooked bananas are yummy.
