Food is Cheap
Jacob's new Oahu-based foodblog is, "A Frugal Foodie's Recipes and Techniques for Cheap Eats." With the high costs of living in paradise, this is a new Hawaii website for me to study. A lot.

If buying locally isn't the answer, then what is?
Continuing the debate over food miles and the perceived benefits of buying locally, Grist argues that this kind of discussion is healthy, and that there are more options to consider than just local v. distance. I first mentioned the buy local backlash a few weeks ago.

New arrival forces out Hawaii mall tenants
This Honolulu Advertiser article is a few weeks old, but it mentions that several Kahala Mall tenants were given notice on their leases. The article doesn't come right and state why the tenants lost their leases, except that it was a unilateral move by the property management company. Although I've been excited by the idea of a Whole Foods near me, I recognize that the arrival has cost others dearly.
