Orange Mango Sorbet
Although we haven't had the deadly heatwaves experienced by other parts of the country, Hawaii is unequivocably in the midst of summer. This recipe is refreshing either at the end of a meal or as an afternoon snack.
Orange Mango SorbetSpecial equipment: an ice cream maker Serves 6-8
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. water
- 2 c. fresh squeezed orange juice
- Zest from 1/2 orange
- Juice from 1 lemon
- 1 c. coconut milk
- 2 1/2 c. mango, frozen or fresh
- 1/4 t. ground ginger
- sprig fresh mint (optional)
Heat water and sugar in a small saucepan until sugar dissolves completely, then set aside to cool completely. When cool combine sugar solution with remaining ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth. Freeze according to the instructions that came with your ice cream maker. If you've lost those, just make something up and I'm sure you'll be fine. Garnish with fresh mint if you have it.

Sounds yummy! How much does it make? I have a 1 gallon ice cream maker...
Amelia-- I don't know how much it makes, exactly? I've already consumed too much of mine to know for certain. A gallon ice cream maker should have plenty of capacity. I don't think mine is that large.
Thanks! I can't wait to try it!
Let me know how it turns out. Good luck!
I love sorbet, gelato and granita this fall I swear I am going to make some pomegrante granita. I keep looking for it and dreaming about it but never have found it. You would have loved Sicily and all the amazing flavors available, no tropical ones but still they were fantastic. Anyone ever had jackfruit granita?

Beth, yes, you can make this recipe without an ice cream maker. Follow the basic instructions on this page
